BEFORE WINDOWS INSTALLATION

1) MAC addresses

The MAC addresses of the Ethernet (cable) and the wireless interface (WiFi) are written on a label on the side of the box. They are also written on a label at the back of the notebook. They must be registered in the CERN network database via http://network.cern.ch (using another computer) before starting the Windows installation.

2) SATA disk mode

Verify that Advanced Host Controller Interface is enabled for accessing the disk.
For that , just after booting the PC, press F10 to enter the BIOS setup. Click on System Configuration, then on Device Configurations. Set the SATA Device Mode to AHCI. When done press Esc twice and click Yes to save the changes.

3) Wireless switch on

When you start the installation, verify that the wireless light (with an antenna symbol) above the keyboard is on (blue light) in order to install properly the wireless drivers. If not, touch that antenna symbol with your finger: it is a sensitive button.
